COVID19 has affected us all. At Lily's we are going out of our way to stay safe. We have reduced our volunteers to just 1 or 2 per shift. When walking our dogs we keep 6ft or more away from each other. Hand washing has always been important here at Lily's. During this time it has become obsessive. Hands are washed before & after handling each dog. Our kennels are kept meticulously clean. Floors and sidings are disinfected on a bi-daily basis. Bed sheets and blankets are regularly laundered and a disinfectant is added to each load. When the need arises for volunteers to share close quarters, face masks are worn.
Team Lily... we will get thru this. We understand the stress and financial strain this has put on everyone in Lilyland. As our dogs still have major expenses, we are asking you to give what you comfortably can. Our senior dogs count on the benevolence of those who believe in our vision and support our mission.
Thank you!

Saving Senior Dogs Week has been created by Lily’s Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary, Petaluma, CA. This is to raise public awareness to the plight of homeless senior dogs, the joy of adopting them, and to support existing senior dog rescue organizations in the USA. The campaign will be driven through social media (please share). Major media efforts will be run by a dog-loving PR professional.
Senior dogs are the ones least likely to be rescued or adopted. They are most at risk of being euthanized in shelters. Of the estimated 14,000 rescue groups nationwide, less than 40 are dedicated exclusively to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing senior dogs. At the end of the campaign, 75% percent of the funds raised will be divided equally among the participating senior dog rescues. The remaining 25% will go into a new grant fund to help new senior dog rescues get started. Together we can save thousands of homeless senior dogs. For more information on Saving Senior Dogs Week or to become a partnering senior dog rescue contact our Executive Director, at alice.lilyslegacysds@gmail.com or call (415) 328-5161. |
Our deepest gratitude to the senior dogs rescues who have partnered with Lily's Legacy to bring awareness to the needs of homeless senior dogs and the joys of adopting them.

Vallejo couple thrilled with senior dogs
‘Lily’s Legacy’ gives hope to aging canines
It was roughly six years ago and Dan and Jan Miller had zero interest in welcoming a dog into their Vallejo home.
“I had gone years without wanting a dog. Our kids were in junior high school and we were busy doing stuff all the time,” Dan said. “We didn’t want to have a dog that would have to be boarded or in the home alone most of the time, so I resisted.” [Read more in the Vallejo Times-Herald]

Michael, Bettina & Lady
Introducing The Otto Project
When Otto realized that his beloved dog, Lady, would outlive him, he made a plan for Lady’s care after he was gone. Because of this, Lady is now settled with her new, loving family. It is with great respect that we honor Otto’s final act of love for Lady by posting the link below.
We gratefully acknowledge the efforts of The Grey Muzzle Organization for providing informative guidelines to make it easier for everyone to to plan ahead. It is our hope that by offering these tools, you will be encouraged to craft a plan that will help ensure the well-being of your pet(s) upon your entering into hospice-care and/or your passing. We are confident this planning will bring you immeasurable peace of mind.

It is with the greatest respect and gratitude that Lily's Legacy would also like to acknowledge Bettina & Michael O'Brien. They are the pioneering adoptive family of “THE OTTO PROJECT". By taking Lady into their hearts and home, they turned Lady's transition from bewilderment and grief, into comfort and trust. The collaboration between Otto and the O'Brien's has provided a powerful inspiration for Lily’s Legacy.
Thank you for believing in our vision and for supporting our mission.
